It's been a busy weekend on the Live Almanac blog with convention coverage and the news that The Monkees will be back on the road in May. It was also revealed at the convention by Andrew Sandoval that fans can look forward to another Rhino Handmade deluxe edition as The Monkees, the group's first album, will get the special treatment. Tour dates have not been announced but some have leaked online through various ticket outlet websites. A new blog category has been added for the 2014 tour, so be sure to keep an eye on it and the blog itself for updates as they become available.
Let's go ahead and close out the Monkees Convention weekend by adding two new sections to the Live Almanac website. First up is a page dedicated to the archives of the 1980s Monkees Hour /Headquarters radio program. As noted in a previous blog post, Paris Stachtiaris, the former co-host of the program, has been sharing his archives with me, and several shows have already been posted. In addition to uploading the shows on the blog, you can now navigate to the Headquarters Radio Program page to listen to the archives. Just this weekend Paris passed along two 1988 shows that feature a multi-part interview with Lynne Randell, who was one of the opening acts for The Monkees on their 1967 summer tour. And there's much more to come!
The second new addition being unveiled tonight is the Monkees Print Archive. This page can be used as a quick reference point for a variety of Monkees articles, interviews, and more that have previously appeared on the Live Almanac blog. I have attempted to select the most noteworthy pieces to highlight, and certainly additional items can be found in the blog's list of archived categories. Either way, there's enough to keep you busy reading for a while!
As always, feedback is welcomed. Please take a moment to visit the new sections, which can also be accessed by clicking the MISC tab from the drop-down menu at the top of each page of this website. And don't miss the unique banner on the Print Archive page that was designed by Al Bigley...Instant Replay cover style, with Peter included!
