A big thanks to (who else?!) Ben Belmares for sharing his scans of the Target version of The Monkees' new holiday album, Christmas Party.

Thank you so much for posting this. Especially for those of us that can't locate this CD in stores. And nice to finally have the musician credits for Christmas Is My Time Of Year.

yes, good to see the scans. Nicely done, love the drawings. I'm still waiting on my Target online order. My order seems delayed into next week despite ordering it about a week before release. I did not bother to go to the brick n' mortar stores because I recall getting a copy of Good Times was a slight hassle of visiting a few stores. .... I still prefer to get an old-fashioned CD vs. getting digital copies. I'm in the GenX age bracket, 2nd Gen Monkees fan. Anyway, I'd rather have this album than have them release nothing. I'm also not a big fan of Christmas music, but I like this release so far. I listened to it several times on YouTube.

Do we happen to know if Chip Douglas' instrumental contributions to "Mele Kalikimaka" were included on the tape of Davy's vocal recorded in '91 or did he record these parts during this Summer's sessions? I realize this could be filed under "useless trivia" but I'm a nerd when it comes to musician credits. :)

Ok, I got my copy yesterday (finally found one in store), and the sped up "Riu Chiu" sounds like the Chipmunks. I couldn't even listen to it all the way through. How in the heck could this have been missed. The only other possibility was that it was a creative decision, but this is not "Tear Drop City". Peter Tork said he considers "Riu Chiu" the Monkees' musical high point (as a group), and there's merit in that notion, so what a bummer that the casual fan that picks this up is not hearing it in the best light. Now, mistakes of course do happen, but for those of us that support The Monkees/Rhino with purchasing the various high priced box sets (CDs/Blu Ray), I think Rhino owes us an acknowledgement of the mistake, and more importantly some kind of correction. I'm thinking maybe we provide them proof of purchase and they give us access to a digital download of the corrected track. Something along those lines. Or what the heck, just post the corrected track for free on their website. You know, in the spirit of Christmas.

The "upgrade" of "Riu Chiu" was extracted directly from the Bluray. However, whomever was responsible for this (most certainly NOT Andrew S.) improperly converted the sample rate from Bluray resolution to CD resolution, resulting in the track being sped up (and in a higher key). It was a careless error. Hopefully, if Andrew compiles a 3CD Super Deluxe Edition of PACJ, this error will be corrected. Until then, the version included on the 2006 Deluxe Edition will be more than sufficient. Truthfully, the upgrade in quality was nominal.

Does anyone know "What Would Santa Do" is all about?
