"Peter Tork's Secret Past" by Lance Wakely

Lance Wakely was a friend of Peter's from his days in Greenwich Village before The Monkees. He later was featured as a session musician on some of Peter's early 1968 recordings, contributing guitar and bass to such recordings as "Lady's Baby," "Long Title: Do I Have To Do This All Over Again," and "Tear the Top Right Off My Head."

Is Andy Partridge of XTC writing a new song for The Monkees?

On December 14, Monkees archivist Andrew Sandoval tweeted to Andy Partridge, best known as the chief songwriter and guitarist of the new wave band XTC.

Andrew included the photograph below in his tweet, a sketch of Micky attributed to Andrew Partridge. (I'm surmising this drawing was originally published in an issue of Monkees Monthly, but I'll have to check my back issues to confirm.)

"Changes" remastered for upcoming box set?

Last week, the Live Almanac reported that online retailer Bull Moose was advertising two new Monkees products, Cereal Box Records and Complete Album Collection. Despite no official announcement from Rhino Records or Monkees.com (Cereal Box Records is now also available for pre-order via Barnes and Noble), more details about these items continue to be revealed by Bull Moose, who have shared track listings for each disc in the Complete Album Collection box.

For The Monkees' ninth LP, Changes, the songs are denoted as "2015 Remastered." Changes was first issued on compact disc in 1994 by Rhino and then again in 2011 by Friday Music. Due to missing tapes and a lack of outtakes from the early 1970 sessions that culminated in the final original Monkees LP, Changes has not received the expanded deluxe treatment by Rhino Handmade like so many of the group's other albums.

The track listing of the bonus disc of singles is also available, and for the first time, the 1986 remix of "Daydream Believer" will be released on CD.

"Monkees Paris Diary" by David Price

On June 23, 1967, The Monkees departed Los Angeles for Paris, France. Over the next several days in the French capital, the group filmed what would become the second season episode "Monkees in Paris."

David Price was a friend of Mike's before The Monkees and Davy's stand-in on the TV show. Beyond numerous cameos on the show as an extra, you can also spot David playing drums during "Little Darlin'" on the 1969 Monkees television special, 33 1/3 Revolutions Per Monkee. He also was present at the private memorial for Davy Jones held at Samantha Juste's house after Davy passed away.
