On October 20, 1967, Davy Jones opened Zilch at 217 Thompson Street in the Greenwich Village section of New York City. The store sold "hip" clothing and accessories and also allowed customers to design their own clothes. The grand opening was attended by Peter Tork, Sally Field, David Pearl, Lynne Randell, and over 2,000 fans.
Today, Davy's former Zilch store is a postal center:
But, the original Zilch door handles are still intact at the postal center!
In 1970, Davy opened another marketplace in Los Angeles called The Street.
UPDATE 5/30/16: Andrew Sandoval shared on Facebook that the property is now available for leasing:
UPDATE 3/26/17: Sarah Clark from the Zilch podcast visited Davy's former store and found that the door handles are still intact. The property remains for lease.
UPDATE 7/22/18: The coffee and tea shop Debutea now occupies the former Zilch boutique at 217 Thompson Street in Greenwich Village. The original doors and "Z" handles remain!
