Love the "All instruments by Christian Nesmith except for these four hugely prominent ones" credit.

That is an odd credit. How about just listing the instruments which were played - lead and bass guitar maybe?

Nothing odd about it. What if he played more instruments than worth mentioning? Nit picking as usual.

More instruments than worth mentioning? Like I said, odd.

...I'm still trying to wrap my head around the idea that, to a music fan, there may be "more instruments than worth mentioning"? What does that even mean?

Scott & Scott - are you by any chance the same person? Or maybe a troll? How about you stop being so miserable and try to appreciate the fact that Mr Dolenz is releasing new music after all these years. But I guess you aren't going to buy the EP anyway, so you couldn't care less.

I'm not Shel, but he is clearly a great guy with exquisite taste and a noble sense of fairness and clarity.

Love this. Bought this as soon as I saw it here. Reminiscent of good times or Christmas party ‘plus’

The question I have is, is this a new Christian-arrangement or did they have an idea of what Nesmith's '67 arrangement would be and closely followed that since it's unreleased?

My only complaint is that it's not going to be a full on Volume 2 of Dolenz Sings Nesmith. The album is so good and I listen to it all of the time. Really happy to see The Crippled Lion on this EP as it's one of my favorite Nez songs.

As an older Monkees' fan, I have already lived through the vinyl age - and am amazed at vinyl's resurgence. I have to admit that CDs have spoiled these ears - I do not miss pops and clicks, or tape hiss, or even worse songs fading and switching channels in the middle of a track. If you understand all those by-gone references, you are an older fan as well. That's why (even though I excitedly just pre-ordered) I almost wish - no I do wish - that 7a would've released a Deluxe CD in honor of Nez on his passing that contained these remaining three takes - unless they would push the CD past the 80 minute mark. I dislike having them only available as vinyl tracks and/or MP3 from iTunes. This is the same problem I have with the song "Terrifying" from the "Good Times" release on Rhino.

Great point. There was just a piece on CNN the other day about retirees being bilked out of their pensions by redundant Monkees reissues. It's a serious problem.

...do you have an actual issue you want to discuss/debate, Shel, or does my mere existence offend you? If it's the latter, I'm afraid I can't help you.

Scotty, Scotty, Scotty - When you get the chance, work on grasping the idea of tongue in cheek remarks. Until then, I can only hope you contribute long enough to society to draw a pension not just hope for social security to take care of you.

...sorry -- I thought I was playing along -- what we call "yes and-ing" in the comedy world. Matters of tone get lost in this text-only medium.

Scotty! Loved seeing this...thanks again for your order! I can't believe you bought ten copies of the deluxe version -- you helped make it all possible!

I can understand the reason for Grand Ennui being on this EP. It wasn't on the vinyl. But I don't understand why these 3 songs were not on the original CD. There was plenty of room left.

Are you seriously griping about trivialities from a new release from Micky Dolenz in 2022?

Awesome news about this EP. I can't wait to hear Micky's take on these songs, especially "Soul-Writer's Birthday." Can you imagine if it's a classic right of the gate? We'll all wonder what it would have sounded like if the Monkees recorded it for Headquarters or Pisces Aquarius.

gotta say I love the art work, dig it more than the full album's artwork. Love the album itself, it sits right where it belongs next to my official Monkees releases. It's the only solo album I have that sits with the band's canon.

Well, I'm not going to try and knock down another hornet's nest, but I am glad that 7a has decided to release this EP in the CD format. Since I'd already placed my order for the vinyl, I do wish 7a had made this decision sooner. I hope it's not an attempt to get us early-bird buyers who pre-ordered the vinyl to shell out more money for the CD E.P. - which I just did. Regardless, thank you 7a for pressing this on CD as well.
