well folks stay tuned for this is the beginning of something bigger.. I just had a conversation with my friend Pat a fellow Monkees maniac who said... it's hard to imagine with Andrew on board and whole new set list.. a new multimedia show, that this tour is going to only be a couple shows.

Agreed, Tiffany! They need to come back to Salt Lake! Micky was here with the Happy Together tour, but I want to see both of them and Mike as well if that's possible! The Monkees have a lot of Salt Lake fans!

I wish you could come to Nashville!!! Love the two of you; will always, always miss Davy, but perhaps he is onstage in spirit. I do remember a specific part of a show after he passed where Mike's guitar suddenly went out of tune, and he couldn't fix it--hand to give to someone offstage to fix it. I immediately thought, and still do, that Davy did that--still playing pranks. I always wondered if anyone else thought of this.
My only negatives are that Nesmith was not at Davy's memorial (extremely noticeable, but then, neither was Davy's WIFE), and it just seemed that after Davy was gone Mike was totally onboard. Fans were only told, before Davy died, that concert dates were cancelled due to internal issues, so we were left to use our imaginations as to what happened.
Back to positives, I saw three of them in 1986 in Chattanooga, and I watched a 2001 concert from Anaheim on You Tube over wkend. Although Nesmith was absent, Peter was absolutely awesome. He is so extremely talented on so many musical instruments. It was a wonderful program, and brought all the tears from the 60's. I would gladly attend this show.

When will Mickey Dolenz and Peter Tork will be in Parkersburg WV? Or Charleston WV? I would love to meet them in person. I have been their biggest fan since I was in dypers. Davy Jones was my favorite Monkee. He was my dream man. He was and always be my hunk. He always look very handsome. In whatever he wore. Mickey was my 2nd favorite. Besides he was handsome. He was funny also. Then there is Mike Nesmith. He reminded me as a leader of the pack. He was very smart, funny, and very handsome.Peter Tork was a very handsome man, funny, and shy.In a way I love them all. I really wish that I could of met Davy Jones. I wouldn't know what to do. So if you could. Could you make arangments for a tour in Parkersburg WV? That would really make my day. We do have a Smoot Theater in Parkersburg. Its a very old building It was built in the early 1800's. But it is open still..

No offense, but how is this a "monkees" show. For those in Canada, or is worth seeing for sure. However, without nez or Davy, it's just not the same monkees. I love Peter, but musically, he was not an integral part of the monkees. Yes, I would still see the show.

Not musically integral? He had more to do with the musical output of the monkees than the rest of them

Peter not only played several instruments for the band; he also wrote several of their songs, including the one used at the ends of all the second season's shows----"In This Generation." Micky would tell people how Peter could take an instrument into a room and, an hour later, come out knowingnhow to play it. Peter's musical abilities donated a lot to the band's success.

It's no less a Monkees show than Changes was a Monkees album.

Also, you should refresh your memory about Peter Tork and his musical contribution to the Monkees. The personnel lineup on the back cover of Headquarters is a good place to start.

Joe, I think you're right that it won't be the same, just like Changes (Micky/Davy) wasn't the same, or the recent tours (Micky/Peter/Nez) weren't the same. With Davy gone, nothing will ever be the same.

But "musically" is the way Peter is the MOST integral to the Monkees. Peter was the one who was always playing. Whenever he could. Whatever he could. On as many instruments as he could. (Which is a LOT.) They would never have been able to get up on stage in 1967 and perform as a quartet if Peter hadn't been such a versatile musician. They never would have been able to make Headquarters on their own if Peter hadn't been able to play so many instruments, and play them well.

Maybe they'll add some more dates in the four weeks between California and Ontario. I hope you have the chance to see this show. And I hope you enjoy it. I know I will!

Melanie that is a wonderfully worded post regarding Peter and the ever changing state of the Monkees. I totally agree with your statements..I was lucky and fortunate enough to be a first generation fan and I had a chance to rediscover my childhood band..only to realize that they could be the best band I've ever loved.I got to see the 2011 tour with Davy and subsequently every tour with Nez.. and actually all four individually in that span.. at this point I think we have to take what we can get..personally I thought the 2014 was a little bit of a letdown because the set list did not change much at all..that being said I'm so glad that at least Micky and Peter are touring for this year.. it would be hard to imagine that Mike is going to not come back for the 2016 50th anniversary...but as we all know, time is not on everybody side...that's why we have to embrace this tour.. imho..

I totally agree with Melanie and Rob here! I am a "first generation" Monkee fan also (from the age of 8 - I'm now 56)! No, it will never, ever, be the same without Davy!!! And yes, I agree - at this point, we have to take what we can get - and be glad (and grateful) that the other three are still here on this earth, and still willing and able to perform for us - (they are, after all, in their 70's)!!! And yes, Peter was very much an "integral" part of the Monkees music - absolutely!!! Long live The Monkees!!!

O could have been exactly the samthangror oa decade if nesmith didnt have his head planted firmly up his ass. always the odd one out. This and the undue praise by his diciples ...whew boy. Then to say there wss never any discontent between them was an insult to the fans. YeAh I blame nesmith for the monkees being one man short of how things use to be the last decade of Jones life since the 3 Gave it a go numerous times since the chage of the century. That and s pathetic tour manager and leeches who directed them. Lets be honest they didn't need some idiot to put together shows and play venues that alienated a huge percentage of fans *Sodival*..they've been in the business long enough to by pass these control freaks imo..and if not that tells me how dumb they are. Get on the phone contact dome oldies stations who can in turn point you to the petfect venue with local promoters. And there you have it. Look at 2012-2014...mostly the same areas toured. .the same set list...who's the idiots that scripted that? Plus fans were paying out the ass for this. Which led to the convention and another clusterbang with tork being the one to act up on this. I heard nesmith was paid north if 400k to be there. Nice reason to be a part of it mike and piss off others that probably didn't get or were worth 1/2 that..none were worth more than half of that to begin with. The all got paid handsomely for the tour I'm sure and any ckaimsit was for anything other than money is pure BS to me. It's a shame money still controls people.

I don't agree with it being billed as "The Monkees" since,I'm assuming" Mike is still a part of the band. It was different during the Changes era because Mike & Peter had left at that point. But if Mike is still a part of the band, then i feel that they should be billed as "Micky & Peter of The Monkees.

And also i agree Melanie,Peter is a highly underrated band member. He is a very integral part of The Monkees musically & humorously. He always cracks me up,esp. in interviews.

I haven't seen anywhere where this is listed as "official" Monkees shows, although the venue may use the name.

I saw Davy and Micky several times in the 90's and sometimes it would be billed as "The Monkees", yet when they took the stage, they were introduced by their names.

One last thing...I seem to remember an interview with Davy where he mentioned this very thing, meaning they had an agreement amongst themselves that there must be at least three of them before the name is used. Of course, this was the Davy, Micky , Peter-era, but when Peter left in 2001, the band name was dropped too. Perhaps the same consideration is still in place with Nez?

Andrew! If you're out there, could you shed some light on this?

Actually, the tour in 2001/2002 that Mickey and Davy did was billed as "MonkeeMania - Starring Davy Jones and Mickey Dolenz of The Monkees" so it should be billed kind of in the same way for the new Peter/Mickey shows/tour. Only if Mike is present should they bill themselves as The Monkees IMHO.

Sure I remember you, Randi, and the Monkees Press Club. You may or may not remember me, Teresa of the Southwest Beechwood Drive Irregulars. We may have met at the numerous Monkees events during that time, but it has been a while and the past grows fuzzy. I'm also now in SF and have seen Mike and Peter (separately) at the Great American Music Hall. Would love to see Micky there with Peter as well if the venue is big enough.

Why even advertise? The venues are probably 200-300 seats with a mostly built in audience. Not real huge news and they and the monkees continue to ignore the lower midwest. Kinda pathetic. Dontwknow about you but a tork/dolenz gig isn't a huge deal even jones and dolenz didn't do well in the late 70s I believe. But again some pretty obscure venues and doesn't mean squat to most reading this if any. Going to fo it right hit some places in the eastern part of usa you haven't been to in ac long while or ever. The monkees have alwsys been kind of off the wall with venue cities. Cleveland...madison..over to Jersey area seem to be their comfort zone and it's ridiculous imo. Get new tour management.

Thank you, Susan! Geez, ...get over yourselves haters and complainers! I too hope you don't go because you're the ones that sit in your seats pouting that they didn't sing some song that they probably sang hundreds of times in other concerts that you again complained about being too expensive, too scripted, or "not the same" because Davy's not there. Davy has a valid excuse not to be there, but if things were different he would be there. I'm a first gen fan and I support these guys in any configuration they decide to entertain us in. They will always be The Monkees and that's the way it is. They embrace it - we should too. I do agree with you about the Cons though…although I sure don't blame the guys being able to get whatever money they can get paid…we're just lucky that these guys in there 70s are still performing and sharing their talents and fun with us! I support them and do everything I can to support Davy and his family too. If you're really a fan - you should too.

I am one of the "first generation” fans, but only got to see three of the guys perform together at any one time in a couple different concerts, never all four. But one amazing thing did change in 2011--- I got to go to his solo show and meet the man I had adored since I was twelve years old, Peter Tork. He was so kind, so nice, and so gracious to me, I fell in love all over again. That was my one-time miracle, I thought. But then... I got to meet him four more times over the last few years! Also met Micky just this last December. And the added bonus has been that, when they see you several times, you sort of become part of the extended clan! I now get to say hi to Peter's wife Pam; Micky's sister Coco; Wayne Avers the backing band's leader; Rich Dart the drummer; Andrew Sandoval, who helps put some of their shows together and who wrote the biography book on the Monkees; Dave and Jennifer Alexander, who are also in the band. Having the gift of getting to meet all these lovely people and find them to be real and so very nice, not just celebrities up in the clouds, has been a gift in my life I could never have anticipated. And it has been so amazing because of the lovely way these people treat the fans. So there is your answer for how they continue to fill venues wherever they go----it is not just the music that is loved, it is these wonderful people who have dedicated their careers to entertaining their fans. Makes them all pretty special to me!

Well at least half of us are positive here.. we have what we have we get what we get... it's hard for me to say this but I've come to this realization.. we have to be thankful and grateful that the Monkees came back in 2011.. literally out of nowhere.. I happen to be watching Antenna TV where I saw them I think for the first time since Saturday mornings and also when they first appeared on Monday nights 1966 I was 6.. what made me sit up in my chair.. I just couldn't realize how many beautiful songs they had sung and yes written.. I kind of overlooked him for all these years.. only to hear on my local radio that they are coming close to where I live in Connecticut... a dream come true.. even though it was Peter Davy and Micky it worked for me... I was hooked and I have subsequently seen every tour since then... let's stop the carping and the harping... they're definitely not too many bands and their members around today from 1966 67 still singing and playing..
let's embrace this tour for what it is.. its 2015 whoever thought this many years ago we'd still be seen the Monkees playing today in any ensemble..
Love is the ultimate trip ..

I would still go if they played some NJ shows of course as they were my first favorite group, but it would be a huge dissapointemnt if Mike didn't play with them in 2016 if they tour.
I think they did a nice job with the 3/27 setlist, adding in I'll Be Back Upon My Feet and I'll Spend My Life With You; but it is a step backwards from 2011-2012

I love all of them. from the oldest to the youngest. Michael Nesmith, then Mickey Dolenz, Peter Tork then Davy Jones. I know all of their Birthdays. Almost everything about them. I do wished that I could of met Davy Jones. But the good Lord had his reasons. And I am not judging him. For the 2016 tour, how about adding NC to the itinerary? Raleigh, Greensboro, Charlotte, all have decent venues for fans in the Piedmont!
On a personal note, I joined Monkeenation when I was 4, watching on my NBC affiliate 1966-1968. I learned to read with the records before starting school...then people wondered why I wasn't interested in "See Spot Run"-level reading!
