The last original Monkees album, Justus, was recorded by all four Monkees in 1996. Speaking to Rolling Stone about the upcoming tour, Micky expressed high interest in The Monkees recording a new album's worth of material. "I'd love to make a new one," Micky said. "We haven't had any discussions about that beyond, 'Wouldn't it be cool to have a new one?' We're just taking this whole thing one step at a time."
This isn't the first time Micky talked about The Monkees making music again. In an interview with Variety earlier this year, Micky said the following:
"Peter and I would like to record with Mike again but we presently have no plans...I don't think getting a deal would be a problem. We just have to agree on new music that we'd all want to record."
