Anyone else ever notice that ever since Davy died and Nesmith came back into the fold these tours have been pretty short by most standards. The one they did in 2011 with Davy was pretty good ground with the US, Canada, and the UK getting covered. But when Nesmith comes in they just tour the US with what seems like skimpy dates. Also take a look at how Nesmith tours solo, same short amount of dates.

Yes, the tours are shorter, most likely due to their age, which is perfectly understandable. But this tour also winds up in early June before it gets too hot. Maybe we'll get another mini tour in the fall for the south and west. The Midwest and Northeast seem to be the parts of the country where attendance is strongest, historically.

It is my understanding Mike is quite wealthy. I don't know about the others if I were in his place and I had options I might choose and pick but with others in mind also. And let me also say we do not know about their personal lives or health issues they may have and touring is very demanding I would choose to appreciate what they feel they are able to offer to the public at this times in their lives

Age likely has a lot to do with it, as does trying to avoid burn-out. All three guys have said that traveling is the hardest part of touring. Keeping them short and spaced out is probably the best way to go nowadays. I'd much rather them do it like this and stay happy with things than have them go on a long tour and end up getting cranky and irritated with things.

Sure wish they would head south to Lafayette, Louisiana!!! 3/22/2014 16:57:19
Much of that (especially that last sentence) is solely your opinion, & certainly not mine. Also, I don't "notice" or care much about the length; Ever heard of "quality, not quantity"?!

Get a grip please. These fine men who we all love are older now, heck I'm 57 when they were big in the 1960's I was 12 years old!

I wasn't even born until they were (technically) broken-up for many years!!! I grew up listening to "Oldies" radio, & watched the show on cable! "Then & Now: Best Of" was the first cassette tape I ever bought!

Also, keep in mind that Micky just lost his wife. Sometimes the unexpected has a way of changing plans or prioritizing with that in mind. My best to all of them and to the Dolenz family as their grief, I'm sure, is still very tender.

Nesmith never liked long tours. Not when he was younger & not now. I'm just glad he plays as much as he does.

I'd also like to hear "Good Clean Fun". Having read the story behind the title, that song is pure Nesmith. Not so sure about "Blues", though; Hits me that ones covered enough by outside artists.

I would love it if they could come to Wyoming...even if they came to Denver I'd be able to go... I've been a fan my whole life, and I'd love to be able to see them at least once... I'm sorry I missed Davy... but it will be good to see Mike back with the band...

I have great memories of seeing Micky-Davy-Peter while on vacation, in New Hampshire in 1996 (30th anniversary tour). Brilliant show. I have never seen Nez live and, as a resident of Montreal, have virtually no hope of ever doing so without a lengthy field trip. But I will always love the band.

I think it's great that they tour sporadically; it makes us fans appreciate those times when they come to our area and we get to see them! As for the reasons, they are getting older, and I'm sure that's a factor. But, they do also have families, other projects they're working on, their personal tours, etc. I'm sure all of that plays a role in their decisions, too.

I saw the Monkees the first time in Balto MD 1967. I loved it but it was very hard to hear them with so much screaming. The next time that I got to see them was in 1986 and I'm so thankful for the huge amps. Saw them again in 1987 and that was the last time that I saw Micky Davy and Peter together. I saw Davy 3 times after then and Micky once at The Heritage Fair in Dundalk MD. I haven't seen MIke since back in 1967. Please guys,Could you see if there is a venue in MD that you would play at on this tour. I love you so much and want my whole family to see you all too! <3

P.O. box 9847. I've had those thought too Tim, I love it though.. going right into the heart of the r n r hall of fame... the Monkees are the most enduring American bands of all time right now, outside The Beach Boys there's no body left..and important thing is the boys keep bringing it..

Don't guarantee that, SM... Was thinking earlier today (& more-so earlier this week) about an episode that ended with use of "Star Collector", a song w/lyrics far more true about the current self-obsessed stars (Beiber, etc.) than it may have ever been about the Monkees... But with Davy's lead-vocal position, of course no shot of it on this tour.
