Too young to be there but no question in my mind that the summer 67 tour was the best. The band at its peak both artistically and in popularity. Never tire of listening to the recordings from the shows.

Tough choice for me,.. as John points out there's some real gems on the 67' tour. If I had the opportunity to be at Pantages Theater recently maybe this tour.

Interesting 2012 is in the lead I think it was only 12 dates.. I did see that one though at the Beacon NYC .. I remember seeing folding chairs squeezed in after the last row. Maybe by next year at this time 2017 tour will be in the mix

I voted for the 1986 20th anniversary tour. I was at the Greek Theater show where Mike played. It was a Sunday night. I originally had tickets to Saturday's show. There were rumors for weeks that Mike was going to appear at one of the Southern California shows (they also had a show at the Pacific Ampitheater). I was sure he would appear at the last show. The Sunday show was a late addition after the other two sold out. When I found out about the added show, I gave my Saturday tickets to friends and bought Sunday show tickets. I'll never forget the cheers that erupted when Mike walked out on stage or when the four did the "Monkees walk" offstage. I've seen them in concert since then, and they've never been anything short of amazing, but that night in '86 is a memory I'll always treasure.

I really enjoyed your story Larry. Great narrative regarding choosing the show when Mike would appear! .. I can only imagine the eruption when Nez came out!

That's so cool! I'm very interested in that period in Monkees history. I was born in 1968 so obviously I couldn't make any of the 60's concerts.

I can't decide between 1986 (first time I saw them), 1987 (better production and set list), and 2013 (first time seeing Nez). So... all three of those. :)

I wasn't born til 68, so unfortunately I couldn't make any of the 60's concerts. It would've been cool to be at one of the 67 shows when Hendrix was the opener. They were playing really well by the time they did their tour of the Far East in late 68, so that would've been great. And I'm fascinated by the 69 period.

'12 was magic - the return of Nez plus the circumstances leading up to it made for a highly emotional and historic show. That plus the fact that the setlist and band were just spot on. And the time of year didn't hurt, either - it didn't feel like the usual summer trek.

1986 - definitely! I also enjoyed 1989 and 1996 to a lesser extent. I WISH i could've caught one of the Nez shows

I chose the 1997 Justus tour as it was the only reunion tour they did as a foursome and we were so lucky they chose to do it in the UK. For actual quantity of songs and the tightness of the performance, the 2011 tour would be a very close second.

I am always partial to the 1986 Reunion tour. Being 16 at the time I remember watching Monkee reruns in the 1970s and now here they are altogether (almost)! It was a fantastic time, a fantastic summer, and a fantastic show!

The 1997 England is my favourite concert I wish I was at. The last full tour of all members. The fav concert I saw was the 45th anniversary as they did so many deep cuts from their albums including the Missing Links ones.
