The Monkees are headed to Minneapolis, Minnesota this Thursday evening for a show at the State Theatre. I believe very few tickets remain. Then on Friday evening, The Monkees will be performing to a sold out crowd at the landmark Chicago Theatre in Chicago, Illinois.
The first few dates of the tour are over and I'm coming up for a breather here. It has been a lot of fun covering the shows so far, and I want to thank everyone for their emails, contributions and kind words about the site. If I haven't responded to you, I'm working on it. The Live Almanac has been experiencing a ton of traffic since opening night!
Here's a review of the Santa Barbara show, the second stop on the tour at the Arlington Theatre.
Backing band member Dave Alexander, who has long been involved with Monkees tours since the '90s (not to mention solo concerts with both Micky and Davy) is interviewed here.
Be advised...if you are interested in purchasing merchandise at the shows, I've gotten several emails from attendees who are saying they were unable to get their desired items due to very long lines. So, if you want a shirt or program, get to the venue early. As a result, a lot of people have been asking where they can find tour merchandise online. My only suggestion at this point is to keep an eye out at monkees.com, which started selling leftover tour merchandise last year after the 2011 concerts were completed. Who knows, this might happen again. (For pictures and pricing of Monkees tour merchandise, click here.)
How about some video footage from this past Sunday's show in Cupertino, California at the Flint Center for the Performing Arts? I really like Micky drumming away at the end of "Porpoise Song." And check out Mike's reaction to the lady who sings "Goin' Down" for Micky (bottom video).
