Approximately a half hour before The Monkees take the stage, a series of videos are screened and songs played over the house speakers. (Thanks to Andrew Sandoval, this has been a tradition since the 2011 tour.) Here are a few details about the pre-show on opening night:
Videos - The rare and complete amusement park "Kool-Aid" commercial was played (this has been used on previous tours, too) as was the 1970 "Oh My My" video. A few Saturday Afternoon-era romps from the The Monkees television series were shown, including "Do You Feel It Too" (from "Monkees Marooned") and "I Never Thought It Peculiar" (from "Don't Look a Gift Horse in the Mouth").
Audio - Covers of "P.O. Box 9847" (that was not by Boyce & Hart) and "Take a Giant Step" were played, as was a cover of "Propinquity" by Ian Matthews.
One song played after the concert ended was a cover of "Listen to the Band" by Hubart Laws.
