The deadline is fast approaching to officially pre-order your copy of Andrew Sandoval's 740 page opus, The Monkees: The Day-By-Day Story. And don't forget: the various editions of Day-By-Day will be produced in limited combined quantities. There is no plan to keep this book in print perpetually and an electronic version will not be offered. Pre-order now via Beatland Books!! In the meantime, check out the latest news update from Andrew about Day-By-Day and much more, and then be sure to view the official unboxing video for the three distinct versions of the book, which also happens to feature a very interesting soundtrack! Andrew has also previously provided two other updates about Day-By-Day, accompanied by exclusive photographs, through the Beatland Books email list. These are must reads! (UPDATED 9/21/2021 to include latest information)

So Andrew is teasing us with that "Shorty Blackwell" tape over the unboxing video. I have to check my Instant Replay super deluxe box but I don't think it's included. Can anyone clarify?

Its not included in either the BBM box or the Instant Replay box, though BBM does feature a piano demo with very spacey Micky & Coco demo vocals. IR box set features a different mix of Shorty Blackwell.

...to be fair, Dan, it's not that hard to keep up with new releases and order things in advance. "Missing out" takes real effort. I've never missed a Monkees or Vinegar Syndrome title...

You know why it's not sold out when shipping the standard version over to Europe cost extra 85$ (!!) and is more than the book itself. It's miles over the top and totally out of my money range. I was really looking forward this but this is way to much money.

Shipping costs in general are crazy - no argument there, but that's 100% out of Beatland Books' control. I believe it added 65 dollars to my SDE shipping domestically. I just decided when I began setting aside funds for this tome in Feb. that I'd pass on some other fun, but non-essential purchases to cover the "sting" of getting this glorious thing to me in a timely & safe manner.

I can understand your frustration, but the shipping costs... especially when going overseas... are much higher than they used to be, mainly due to the Corona fun we've all been going through. Sorry you're going to miss out on this book.

I’m a first generation fan who handed down my love of all things Monkees to my kids who are now as passionate as I am. Met all four of them over the years, have been to multiple shows, will be taking my whole family to see them on the farewell tour and ordered this wonderful book for my daughter for Xmas. That being said, I think ANY new book in this price range should be signed by the author. Don’t care about it being numbered, but a signature is certainly not a lot ask. Thank you.

All of the books are signed by the author! You can see it in this video!

A real feast for the eyes. Just seeing those few pages displayed in the video, it’s clear it will take many months to get through this opus. I can’t imagine what a thrill it must have been to watch Michael page through this amazing book.

I finally made my decision... I was torn between flexibound (nice price) and the deluxe edition (sturdy construction, and I love that slipcase)... I went with the deluxe version. Shipping was only $13!! Always go with media mail if you can. :)

Completely agree!! I love the slipcase too. I bought the super deluxe - but then bought the deluxe because of the slip case.

This could be the beginning of the most incredible, definitive book series from Beatland.

Fingers and toes crossed that Andrew is able to do a book on the reunion era someday. Probably won't be 700+ pages, but I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

Tom B, I think we will likely get just 1 more book tops about the reunion years by Sandoval, like you I'd buy them all.

HOW MANY BOOKS TOTAL? I just placed my order for my new Sandoval Monkees' book over the weekend and my order number was 2705. Does that mean there are closer to 3,000 books being printed of all variants? Just curious if anyone knows or any good guesses. Can't wait to get this. Expensive, Yes, but I think it is worth it given all the effort of Sandoval.

I 100% believe there are only 2,000 copies being printed. Remember... Andrew is doing all of this himself and all of the financial burden is on him. He's not going to make more than he believes he can sell. That's why he did the whole reservation thing last spring.

Thanks, JJ. I was hoping there were a few more books being sold. I hate to say it but this fandom is slowly dying out due to the aged demographics. Maybe there will be some renewed interest in time with the younger crowd, never know? Either way, I'm glad I ordered my copy - the flexibound budget book.
